ARLINGTON -- City officials are closing boat ramps starting on Monday due to inadequate rainfall totals for the year.
Boat ramps at Richard Simpson Park, Bowman Springs Park and Eugene McCray Park will close until further notice because year-to-date rainfall amounts are nine inches below normal, a news release said.
Lake fishing and the paddling trail will still be available and parks will be open during their normal hours, said Michael Debrecht, Lake Arlington supervisor. Lake passes for the paddling trail will be available in the lake office at Richard Simpson Park.
Signs will be posted to remind visitors that the public ramps are closed.

Public entry from boat ramps at low lake levels is unsafe, according to city officials. Once the lake levels reach 542.5 feet, up from a predicted 541 feet, the boat ramps should be reopened.
