Dallas man dies in Bedford freeway crash

BEDFORD -- A Dallas man died early Wednesday from injuries he suffered in a one-car accident on Airport Freeway in which the vehicle he was riding in hit a guardrail, spun off the freeway and smashed into a pole, authorities said.

The Tarrant County medical examiner's office identified the victim as Christopher Thelitz, 27, of Dallas. He was pronounced dead shortly after 12:30 a.m. at Harris Methodist H.E.B. hospital.

The driver of the car, a young Euless woman who police did not identify, also was injured, but her injuries were not life-threatening, police said Wednesday.

The accident happened shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Airport Freeway.

The woman was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo eastbound on the freeway when she lost control of the vehicle and hit a guardrail. Police had not determined what caused her to lose control of the car.

On impact, the car spun off the freeway and slammed passenger-sideways into a pole, police said. Thelitz was a front-seat passenger, police said.
