A 49-year-old Terrell woman was in custody Friday morning, accused of the savage beating of a 93-year-old neighbor in what police said appeared to be a robbery.
Police said Mona Lacretia Medlen “was acquainted” with Zella Bourns, who was found lying in a pool of blood Tuesday in her home in the 100 block of West Way Drive. She remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Medlen was possibly beaten with a hammer and “other household and kitchen utensils,” police said. Her car, a 1999 Ford Taurus, was missing.
A Terrell police officer found the car the next day.

Medlen was in the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center early Friday, with bail set at more than $250,000.
