Arlington has just $40 million left on its Cowboys Stadium tab

The city of Arlington only has to pay another $40.1 million for the construction of the Dallas Cowboys stadium.

According to a city report, Arlington has already spent $284.9 million of the $325 million it promised to provide for the NFL franchise’s new home. The $1.1 billion stadium is currently under construction and set to open in fall 2009.

The total amount paid to contractors that work on the stadium project is $576.5 million. Some of that money has been paid to several nurseries for trees ($113,793) and for Parking Lot F materials ($7,982).

More than 70 percent of the total spent on the project, about $410 million, has been paid to Manhattan Construction, the general contractor for the stadium. Manhattan then pays subcontractors to perform most of the work who are not listed on the city’s financial report.
