Victim in Fort Worth fire identified

FORT WORTH – The woman found dead in a garage Tuesday afternoon after a fire gutted her house near Eagle Mountain Lake has been identified as 47-year-old Kimberly Covington.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled that Covington died from smoke inhalation and thermal burns caused by the fire.

The blaze, which was reported about 1 p.m., quickly demolished the one-story brick house in the 7300 block of Bishop Court. After the fire was brought under control, firefighters searched the living quarters of the house but found no one.

Later, Covington’s family told firefighters they believed the woman was at home. Firefighters searched again and found Covington’s body under rubble in the garage.
