Teens arrested after trying to run over officer, Arlington police say

ARLINGTON -- Three teenagers, two of them juveniles, were arrested early Wednesday after they tried to run over a police officer, said Lt. Blake Miller, a police spokesman.

Miller said that when an officer attempted a routine traffic stop in the 2800 block of Little Road about 5:30 a.m., the teens fled.

He said a chase ensued, and at some point the driver attempted to run over the officer.

Some shots were fired by the officer but no one was injured.

Police arrested Sheldon Forest Murphree, 17. He was booked on charges of evading arrest, driving while intoxicated and attempted capital murder of a police officer. He was being held in the Arlington jail with bail set at $3,500.

His two unidentifed juvenile passengers were being held at the Juvenile Justice Center in Fort Worth, Miller said.
