Police have arrested a 28-year-old in connection with the sexual assault of a woman who was attacked while taking out the garbage last week in east Arlington.
Paulo Jasso Chavira of Arlington was arrested Saturday in the same area were the assault occurred, police said Friday.
A resident called police on Saturday after noticing a suspicious person prowling between houses near the 700 block of Glen Rock Place. The suspect was arrested after a brief foot chase.
At the time he was charged with evading arrest, failure to identify himself and public intoxication. He was later charged with rape after police linked him to last week’s assault through DNA evidence. He also faces a burglary with intent to commit sexual assault charge. He remains in the Arlington jail on a $100,000 bond.

“This is an example of when the public gets involved and calls us about suspicious activity,” said Arlington police spokesman Lt. Blake Miller. “The caller noticed the prowler because of what had occurred earlier that week.”
The recent arrest means Arlington police have in custody two of the three suspects accused in a recent rash of stranger on stranger rapes.
Ismael Moreno, 33 of Arlington, was arrested last week in connection with the sexual assault of a female in Dunsworth Park 1100 Waverly Drive.
Police are searching for a third suspect who burglarized a 66-year-old woman’s house on May 23, forced her to withdraw money from her bank account and sexually assaulted her.
