A 17-year-old was shot in the face Monday after a brawl involving as many as 20 people outside a YMCA that had just closed for the day, police said.
The teenager, whose name wasn't released, was taken by ambulance to Dallas Methodist Medical Center. He was in critical condition Tuesday morning, police said.
The YMCA in the 4500 block of South Carrier Parkway closed at 3 p.m. Young men who had been playing on a basketball court began congregating in the YMCA parking lot, Grand Prairie police Lt. Larry Simmons said.
"A short time later, another group of ... males arrives and the two groups began to fight," Simmons said. "After the fight ended, an unknown ... suspect exited the vehicle and the shot the victim."
