GRAND PRAIRIE -- Free gas will be given away to the first 200 drivers who visit Exxon at 3051 Mayfield Road in Grand Prairie at 11 a.m. Thursday. The $40 prepaid cards will hardly fill up most tanks these days -- but free is free, right?
Verizon Yellow Pages is giving away the gas cards at 24 stations nationwide, including at 3100 W. Mockingbird Lane in Dallas. But the Grand Prairie station is closest for drivers in the western Metroplex.
How far are people willing to drive for a $40 gas card? Before you burn any precious fuel getting to Grand Prairie, keep in mind that regular unleaded sold for an average of $3.71 a gallon Wednesday in Tarrant County -- so a $40 card will get you 10.7 gallons.
