ARLINGTON -- Four people were hospitalized after a car trying to escape police collided with another car early Sunday at South Watson Road and Arkansas Lane. Police said a 2000 Chevy Blazer driven by Jose Guadalupe Puga-Sanchez, 21, of Grand Prairie, was weaving as it traveled southbound on Texas 360 at 12:02 a.m.
As a police unit attempted to stop the vehicle, it sped southbound on Watson Road at up to 90 mph, a report showed. At Arkansas Lane, the Blazer ran a red light and smashed into a 1996 Chevy Silverado driven by Salvador Orta of Dallas; Sabastien Salas of Arlington was in the passenger's seat. Both are 19 and both were transported to Dallas Methodist Medical Center.
Puga-Sanchez and an unidentified passenger were transported to Parkland Hospital.
Puga-Sanchez was arrested and charged with three counts of intoxication assault and with one count of evading arrest, a felony. As of Sunday evening, he was in the Arlington jail with bail set at $11,500.
