Casa Mañana president leaving for post in Kansas City

Denton Yockey, president and executive producer of Casa Mañana just over a decade, has accepted a new position with Starlight Theatre Association in Kansas City, Teresa Hubbard, chairwoman of Casa Mañana's board of directors, announced Wednesday.

Yockey will stay with Casa Mañana through Aug. 31, and oversee its upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations.

"I am truly thankful for the opportunity to have led such a prestigious organization as Casa Mañana," Yockey said in a news release. "I look forward to this summer's historic milestone, our series of celebration events, and then to a smooth transition that ensures Casa Mañana's success for the next 50 years and beyond."

Casa's executive board was notified of the decision Monday, and the entire board was told at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by Casa's staff.

The board has established a search committee to find Yockey's replacement, with hopes to have the position filled before Yockey leaves Fort Worth, Hubbard said in the news release.
