A former Johnson County sheriff's deputy is in the Somervell County jail after he was arrested last week on two counts of sexual assault of a child.
Jerry Lee Diyer, 42, of Grandview was arrested Thursday after authorities received outcries from two girls, Sheriff Bob Alford said in a news release. The arrest warrant was issued after interviews were conducted at the Child Advocacy Center and with the deputy, according to the release.
Capt. Troy Fuller, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department, said Diyer was hired in September to transport jail inmates to court and other facilities. He was terminated when the department received the abuse allegations, Fuller said.
Diyer was booked into the Johnson County jail before he was transferred to Somervell County out of concern for his safety, Fuller said.

"He was an employee, and he had contact with other inmates," Fuller said.
Diyer remains in the Somervell County jail, with bail set at $200,000.
