ARLINGTON — Plans to demolish the Pleasant Ridge Road bridge over Rush Creek have been postponed while the city tests the bridge for asbestos and obtains a permit from the State Health Department to go forward with the project.
The bridge demolition, previously reported to begin by Friday, has not been rescheduled but could happen by mid-May, project engineer Keith Brooks said Monday.
The bridge eventually will be expanded to four lanes, along with the rest of Pleasant Ridge Road between Kelly Elliott and Bowen roads in southwest Arlington.
