North Richland Hills woman, 82, drowns in pool

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- An 82-year-old woman drowned Thursday afternoon after she accidentally fell into her back yard swimming pool as she walked near it, police said.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Dorothy Fischer, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

She died shortly after 4 p.m. at her home in the 8600 block of Kensington Lane. The location is near Ridge Run Drive.

The medical examiner’s office has ruled her death an accident.

According to a fire department report, Fischer was found in her pool by her 17-year-old granddaughter. The granddaughter tried to revive her, the report shows.

A police report states that Fischer had been home alone for a short time and she was last seen in her living room. She had been hospitalized for heart problems a few days ago, the report states.

For some reason, Fischer walked outside and apparently fell after walking on a narrow path near the pool, police said.

Authorities had not determined how long she had been in the pool before her granddaughter found her.
