ARLINGTON -- Michael Ikner, the assistant police chief, has been hired as the police chief in College Station.
He is scheduled to begin the job on June 2.
Ikner, 44, joined the Arlington Police Department in 1985 and has worked in the patrol, criminal investigation, training, internal affairs and special operations units.
He now oversees the field operations bureau. Ikner will oversee a department of 114 sworn officers, 50 civilian staffers and an annual operating budget of $12 million, according to previous reports.

His annual salary will be $130,000 plus benefits, according to College Station officials.
