FORT WORTH -- A 24-year-old man who was shot in the face last month by a man who police say believed the victim was having an affair with his wife died late Monday from his injuries.
Bruce McKinney was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m. at a Fort Worth in-patient hospice facility.
Jerill Christopher Dorton was arrested shortly after the shooting at the Meridian Apartments near Marine Creek Parkway and Northwest Loop 820. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and remained in the Tarrant County Jail Tuesday with bail set at $40,000.
Police have said that Dorton, believing his wife was having an affair with the victim, asked McKinney to come to his apartment. There, Dorton pulled a gun and shot McKinney, police have said.

Homicide Sgt. J.D. Thornton said investigators will meet with the Tarrant County district attorney's office to discuss possibly seeking upgraded charges against Dorton now that McKinney has died.
