Motorcyclist hurt in North Richland Hills freeway wreck

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- A Fort Worth man was seriously injured Friday morning when the motorcycle he was driving was rear-ended by a pickup on Airport Freeway, police said.

The motorcyclist was knocked more than 100 feet after his vehicle was hit, police said.

The 39-year-old man, who police did not identify, was taken to Harris Methodist Fort Worth hospital. His condition was unavailable.

The accident was reported shortly before 8:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the 8600 block of Airport Freeway.

The motorcyclist had slowed down because of heavy traffic on the freeway when his 1986 Honda was hit by a 1985 Dodge Ram pickup driven by a 19-year-old Euless man, police said.

The Euless man was not injured, but was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and having no insurance.

The Fort Worth motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to police reports.

Police closed several lanes of westbound Airport Freeway as authorities investigated the accident.
