A 20-year-old man was in police custody Monday following the stabbing death of a teenage boy in McKinney, police said.
The 18-year-old victim, Raymond Wayne Cole, died overnight at North Central Medical Center of McKinney, said Capt. Randy Roland, police spokesman, in a news release.
Cole was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed once in the chest shortly before midnight Sunday in the 1200 block of North Tennessee Street.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at 11:50 p.m., Roland said. The area is in north McKinney, but south of the intersection of North Tennessee Street and U.S. 380, also called West University Drive.

"Witnesses told police that the victim was arguing and became involved in a physical altercation," Roland said. "After the assault, the victim walked a short distance away where he collapsed."
The witnesses gave a description and a possible identity of the suspect, identified as 20-year-old John Margraves, who later came to police headquarters, Roland said.
Margraves was taken into custody on a probation revocation charge, Roland said.
Roland said, however, that charges related to Cole's death were pending.
