FORT WORTH — A woman was killed and five others, including four children, were wounded when shots were fired into a home during a birthday party Sunday night.
Police said a man drove up in a green sedan about 8:20 p.m. and fired into the home at the Village Creek Townhouses in the 5700 block of Anderson Street in southeast Fort Worth. The injured children are 5 to 12 years old.
“With the number of bullets fired into the house, it would appear that this family was targeted,” Fort Worth police Lt. Scott Conn said. He said police have leads in the case.
Police did not identify the victims but said that a 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and that a 36-year-old woman was shot in the leg and face. A 5-year-old girl who was shot in the neck and stomach was taken by helicopter to Cook Children’s Medical Center. Two girls, 9 and 10, were taken to Cook Children’s with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

Another child from the party went by private vehicle to a local hospital with a graze wound on her head.
“I am angry because they shot at kids,” said Martha Reed, who said she is the niece of the woman who was killed. “It doesn’t make any sense.”
