The University of Texas at Arlington on Wednesday named Donald R. Bobbitt as the university's new provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Bobbitt's academic background is in chemistry. He he is currently dean of the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas.
"I think the campus has very high expectations for itself," Bobbitt said. "That's one of the things I found very attractive."
Bobbitt, 51, is the father of three sons and is married to Susan Bobbitt.

He expects to start work in Arlington about July 1.
"I told the president I'd hit the ground listening," Bobbitt said. "But I don't know how long I'll have to spend listening."
The university had been without a permanent provost since Dana Dunn stepped down in August and returned to teaching in the sociology department.
