A woman walking on the freeway near the intersection of Interstate 20 and Hemphill Street early Tuesday morning appears to have been struck by multiple vehicles and killed, Fort Worth police say.

No one stopped to help her, said Capt. Todd Wadlington. The woman was killed shortly before 1:30 a.m.

Later Tuesday morning, police said the suspect is possibly driving a white vehicle.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Wadlington said. Her identity won't be released until the Tarrant County medical examiner notifies her next of kin.

Detectives in the Traffic Investigation Unit are working the case, Wadlington said.

Scene from a multi-vehicle fatality accident on I-35W southbound just north of Ripy Street in Fort Worth.

Police shut down a portion of Camp Bowie Boulevard West on Tuesday as they investigated an accident in which a road crew worker was hit by a driver. Police initially suspected the driver was drunk, but then said the driver had a medical issue.

Around 2:30 a.m. Sunday Dallas Police responded to the call on the southbound lanes of S. M. Wright Freeway.
