Man gets 35 years in prison for killing during workplace fight in Grapevine
A man who was suspected of stabbing a co-worker to death was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Friday.
Jose V. Barron, 35, of Mansfield, and Ricardo Muniz, 42, of Irving, were working together at Butterfly Valves and Controls Inc. in Grapevine in temporary positions on March 1, 2017.
Police responded to a disturbance call at the business, located in the 600 block of Industrial Boulevard and were told by witnesses that two temporary workers had gotten into a fight.
The fight led to the stabbing and the suspect fled the scene, according to police. Barron was arrested without incident a short time later at another business nearby.
Muniz was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Barron has filed a notice that he will appeal the verdict.
