Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt was named the Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics on Monday.
Hocutt is one of four sitting athletic directors at the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision level to be honored, joining Barry Alvarez (Wisconsin), Whit Babcock (Virginia Tech) and Joe Castiglione (Oklahoma).
Since taking over in 2011, Hocutt has seen the Red Raiders athletic department claim seven Big 12 titles, including soccer, men's tennis, women's tennis, baseball and men's track and field.
Tech's baseball program, led by Tim Tadlock, has made two trips to the College World Series.
Most recently, Tech has had five teams - baseball, men's basketball, men's track and field, women's tennis and men's golf - rank in the top 10 of their respective sports since the start of January. The men's track and field program led by Wes Kittley is currently No. 1 in the USTFCCCA poll for the fourth straight week.
In addition, Hocutt served as the chairman of the College Football Selection Committee, the last of his three-year term ending this past winter.
