For the past week and a half of winter storm after winter storm, we’ve seen all of DFW’s TV meteorologists putting in overtime. But there’s one we won’t be seeing for a few weeks.
Jennifer Myers, who mostly does weekend mornings for KDFW/Channel 4 but does additional shifts when needed, posted on Facebook on Wednesday that she is having surgery Thursday “to have my entire thyroid removed due to what is likely stage I Papillary Cancer.”
The prognosis, Myers says, is good. She adds that when she returns, you’ll notice something about her on the air.
“When I get back, there will be a pretty noticeable scar on my neck, so heads up on that one,” she wrote. “I've chosen not to cover it up because we're adults and it's good for us to handle a little dose of life from time to time. Also, putting makeup over a wound is asking for trouble, and scarfs make me look ridiculous.”

Myers, who was part of our “Rainmakers” package on DFW TV meteorologists in 2014, came to Fox 4 in July 2012 after gigs in El Paso and Oklahoma. She’s keeping a good attitude about the surgery: The most recent post on her Meteorologist Jennifer Myers Facebook page is a picture of her in her hospital bed captioned, “Let’s do this!!!”
Here’s a clip of something Myers does every Saturday that she’s on with anchor Jenny Anchondo. It’s not about the weather.
