‘Food Paradise’ discovers BBQ paradise at Heim. (But lunch diners will have to wait.)

Heim Barbecue is about to hit the Travel Channel, and what took so long?

Emma and Travis Heim’s cult-favorite craft barbecue restaurant will open late Wednesday (Nov. 8) to allow taping time for a “Food Paradise” episode, the Heims’ first appearance since opening their West Magnolia Avenue location.

Until now, “Food Paradise” stuck to Fort Worth’s old-time favorites: beef ribs at Riscky’s, fajitas at Joe T. Garcia’s, pork ribs at the Woodshed Smokehouse.

A post on Heim’s Facebook page Wednesday began: “We have some fun news!!”

Heim will open Nov. 8 at 1 p.m., to allow for taping earlier, according to the post.

But then Heim adds, “Come on out and show your support, and there’s a chance you could be on ‘Food Paradise’ with us.”

Heim Barbecue, listed among Texas Monthly’s Top 50 barbecue restaurants in Texas, opened two years ago as an East Hattie Street food truck. It moved last summer to a full-scale restaurant at 1109 W. Magnolia Ave.

Heim also will open a second location this fall at 5333 White Settlement Road in the new River District near the West Fork of the Trinity River.
