One closed, one failed in recent Arlington restaurant health inspections

One Arlington restaurant was temporarily closed and another failed in the city’s latest round of health inspections, according to city records compiled by the Star-Telegram.

The report contains data from April 13 through April 26 and 171 inspections.

Arlington’s restaurant inspections function on a 100-point system: 100 points is considered perfect and 70 points is considered to be extremely poor.

Pizza Hut # 39016, at 1030 W. Arkansas Lane, had a score of 96, according to the report. But the restaurant was closed on the day of the inspection due to a lack of hot water, city officials said.

The issue was fixed that day and the restaurant has since reopened, officials said.

Taqueria Tepito, at 3330 Matlock Road, had a score of 67 and was the only restaurant to fail its inspection during this period, according to the report. The restaurant was noted to have issues with temperature control, handwashing and food storage, according to the inspection report.

Health department officials also noted that no one on staff at the restaurant had proper food handler training, city officials said.

Reinspections are conducted for any restaurant that scores 75 or less. In addition to Taqueria Tepito, three other restaurants scored 75 or below in this round of inspections:

  • Blitz Lounge Restaurant And Bar, 4515 Matlock Road Suite 121, Score: 74
  • Tacos Y Mas, 702 W. Interstate 20 Hwy Suite 106, Score: 74
  • Crown Cafe, 2501 E. Mayfield Road Suite 101, Score: 75
