Popular Canada-based coffee shop opening north of Fort Worth. Try the maple doughnuts

Saginaw will soon have a 2,000-square-foot Tim Hortons coffee shop.

The Canada-based coffee chain is known for its coffee and maple donuts. It has 639 locations in the U.S. — 5 of those are in Texas. The latest Tim Hortons will open at 1005 N. Saginaw Blvd., Saginaw. The cafe will sit inside an 8,000-square-foot metal building retail retail space with four other tenants. Tim Hortons will also have a drive thru.

The cafe was founded and named after a Canadian professional hockey player, Tim Horton. Not only is Tim Hortons known for its coffee, but also for the bite-sized donut holes called “timbits.” The chain celebrated its 60-year anniversary this year.

Currently, all five Texas locations are in the Houston area, where its first cafe opened in 2021. Tim Hortons is trying to dip their toes in North Texas with two more locations planned — a second at 440 North State Highway 121, Coppell, and a third location in Denton, according to Dallas Business Journal.

The company expects to expand within the next five to seven years — planning to open 50 to 60 more cafes in Texas. Besides Houston and Dallas, they are also looking at Austin, said Ryan Ferranti, head of business development at Tim Horton’s U.S.

Blazing Hospitality, a Fort Worth-based real estate developer owns the property the Tim Hortons cafe will occupy. Other tenants in the building include Firehouse Subs and Liquorland.
