Texas-based Hopdoddy and Grub restaurants join forces in burger joint merger
Texas-based burger joints Hopdoddy Burger Bar and Grub Burger Bar are joining forces as HiBar Hospitality Group, making the total number of restaurants in Texas 31, with another 19 locations elsewhere, according to a news release from the newly formed group.
Hopdoddy, an Austin-based burger joint, officially reached a definitive agreement Thursday to acquire Grub Burger Bar out of Bryan, according to the release.
The merger, backed by L Catterton, hopes to see immediate, rapid expansion both in Texas and out of state, according to the release. Grub currently operates in locations including Texas, Georgia and Florida, while Hopdoddy sells its burgers and beer across five states.
While Hopdoddy, which runs a restaurant in the West 7th area of Fort Worth, focuses on burgers and brews, Grub boasts burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, craft cocktails, beer and wine.
Grub has a restaurant at 3101 Heritage Trace Parkway in Fort Worth.
