A few months after Pegaso Mexican Diner closed on Blue Bonnet Circle south of TCU, tacos are coming back to the location.

R Taco, formerly known as Rusty Taco, has set up a Facebook page with the name Rusty Taco Bluebonnet/TCU. Pegaso closed in August, but its Facebook page is still live, with an Aug. 4 post that says, “We’ll be back one day.”

R Taco has had its eye ont he location since before Pegaso opened. It’s looking at an early 2017 opening date. A location is also planned for Ridglea Village in west Fort Worth; it’s unclear which location is scheduled to open first, although the Ridglea location does not yet have a Facebook page.

Either one would be the Dallas-based chains first foray into Tarrant County.

Rusty — er, R Taco’s menu features 13 tacos, including the namesake Rusty Taco, which features achiote pork with pineapple, onion and cilantro. There is a vegetarian black-bean taco that with its chipotle black beans and toasted pumpkin seeds sounds a little better than the “we just threw grilled vegetables in here” kind of vegetarian taco. And, for dessert, a fried fruit taco.

According to “The R Taco Story” on the chain’s website, the chain was founded in 2010 in Dallas by Rusty Fenton and Steve Dunn. It now has locations in Denton, Mesquite and Plano as well as in Colorado and Minnesota.
