Spa-la-la-la-la deals make a great last-minute gift

It's less than a week until Christmas. We're in the last-minute shopping zone now.

Free shipping is over. Dot-com deals are dead.

If you haven't found the perfect present for the sweetie on your list by now, we suggest you steer your wreath-gilded car in the direction of her favorite spa. Chances are, it has a pretty good package deal that will make her coo with delight on Christmas morning.

No matter that you don't know your "thermal pedicure" from your "oxygen facial." She does, and she loves them both. Trust us. Aside from sparkly jewelry, spa packages are just about our most favorite gift to receive.

Lucky for you -- you shopping slacker -- many spas offer special holiday deals this time of year, bundles of treatment joy packaged so that you don't have too many choices to make. Because let's face it -- you don't have time to make choices.

Here are five holiday deals at spas around town that we have visited -- they're a starting point if you're not quite sure where she likes to go to be pampered.

Fit for a queen

Gold, frankincense and myrrh? Any wise man today would give us gold, chocolate and coffee.

Those are the "gifts" Hollywood Nails & Spa is offering in its two new luxury treatments, which can be purchased separately or together in a special holiday package.

A gold facial incorporates real gold, which is part of a mask applied to the face to tone and tighten skin. The 90-minute treatment is $199, but act quickly to get it for $185.

A new coffee-chocolate body treatment is a holiday treat that won't pack on the pounds. The 90-minute treatment starts with a sugar-scrub with real coffee, then proceeds to a massage using oil infused with coffee and dark chocolate. It's $125.

Both treatments in a holiday bundle are $300. 6248 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth. 817-735-8100;

Happy holiday specials

European Skincare Institute takes the chill off with a full menu of holiday specials, available for purchase through the end of the year and redeemable within a year.

The special packages start from $165 for a "refresher" facial, 25-minute massage and thermal pedicure, and go up to $395 for an "ultimate renewal" facial, desert-heat body wrap, Swedish massage, spa lunch and thermal pedicure and manicure. Other packages include oxygen facials, makeup application, hot stone massages, foot reflexology and more. Choose the package that best matches her favorite ways to relax, and you'll look like one smart Santa.

Browse them all and buy online at (and have it mailed directly to her or you), or drop by and purchase in person; 6038 Camp Bowie Blvd., Fort Worth. 817-731-0707.

Passport to perfect relaxation

If you want to give the gift of a spa getaway, why stop at just one? Daireds Salon and Spa Pangea in Arlington has brought back its "Pangea Passport," which lets the passport-holder visit the spa for three custom massages or custom facials (not to be mixed and matched). The passport costs $195, but is worth $270.

If the person on your list is more of a pedi-purist, indulge her in a Pedi Pass, good for three signature pedicures ($125, a $165 value).

One caveat: Both types of passes must be used within six months of purchase. They can be purchased online and sent directly to the recipient or downloaded and printed, from The spa is at 2400 W. Interstate 20, Arlington. 817-465-9797.
