Chocolate, just like wine, has its geeks.
Dark or milk, 35 percent or 70 percent cacao, earthy, acidic and nutty are terms any serious chocoholic knows.
It's a good time of year for them, too. Grapevine is hosting the sixth annual Chocolate Fest this weekend, and more than 20 chocolatiers in Dallas-Fort Worth are bringing goodies.
Even better, all proceeds will go to Travelers Aid Dallas/Fort Worth, a nonprofit that helps people at D/FW Airport and in the surrounding cities.
The first event is from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at La Buena Vida Vineyards. Chocolates, hors d'oeuvres and wine will be served for guests, who can participate in a silent auction and walk away with a souvenir wineglass. Admission: $35 in advance; $40 at the door.
On Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Palace Arts Center downtown, people can sample chocolate and see art on exhibit and for sale. Admission is $14 in advance and $15 at the door and includes 10 samples.
