Missing Bedford man with Alzheimer's found safe in Alvarado

BEDFORD -- Police say that an 84-year-old Bedford man reported missing as part of a Silver Alert Wednesday has been found safe in Alvarado.

The man, who has Alzheimer’s disease, had not been seen since Tuesday afternoon.

It was the second Silver Alert in as many days in the city.

James Newsome contacted family members about 10 p.m. Tuesday on his cell phone and told them that he was lost, but no one had heard from him since then, police said.

Newsome was last seen about 3 p.m. Tuesday when he left his Bedford home to visit acquaintances in Hurst near North East Mall, police said, but he never showed up.

He was driving a 1985 silver Chrysler 300 with Texas license plate number CTX-077.

On Tuesday, a 79-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease returned home Tuesday after last being seen Monday night, police said.

Police were at the home of Henry Bilz about 7 p.m. Tuesday to make sure he was in good health.

His wife told police that she last saw her husband about 10 p.m. Monday as the two went to sleep in their Bedford home.

But Bilz was gone when she woke up Tuesday morning, police said. His Buick Rendevous also was missing.
