Dallas 'Bachelor' sidles over to 'Dancing With the Stars'

He appeared on The Bachelorette and was this season's Bachelor. Now Dallas pilot Jake Pavelka will continue his flight through ABC's Monday-night reality shows as part of the new cast of Dancing With the Stars.

The network announced the cast during the finale of The Bachelor, in which Pavelka proposed to "bachelorette" Vienna Girardi, who had been looked upon with disdain by most of the other Bachelor women.

Pavelka was rejected by Jillian Harris on The Bachelorette. In a bit of reality-show synergy that goes back to the beginning of last year, Harris had appeared on a season of The Bachelor that also featured Dallas' Melissa Rycroft, who was picked by Bachelor Jason Mesnick and then dumped on the postseason After the Final Rose. Shortly afterward, the network announced that Rycroft would be part of that season of Dancing With the Stars. Rycroft was second runner-up on DWTS last spring.

Pavelka, who has shown an affinity for country dancing on The Bachelor, will now do ballroom routines with professional dancer Chelsie Hightower (who has experience dancing with North Texans -- she was a partner of Joshua Allen of Fort Worth the season he won Fox's So You Think You Can Dance).

Dancing With the Stars' other contestants this season include former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, model-actress Pamela Anderson, ESPN host Erin Andrews, actress Shannen Doherty, reality-TV mom Kate Gosselin, Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek, comedian-actress Niecy Nash, NFL star Chad Ochocinco, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger and soap star Aiden Turner. The new season premieres at 7 p.m. March 22 on WFAA/Channel 8.
