Fourth attempted child abduction reported in Johnson County

Another attempted child abduction was reported Wednesday in Johnson County -- the fourth in a week -- this time involving a 10-year-old boy in Keene who reported the incident to police.

"At the present there is no indication this offense is related to the three recent incidents in Burleson," said Sgt. Tom Hargrave, Johnson County Sheriff's spokesman, in a news release.

The latest incident was reported at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 3000 block of County Road 805B in Keene.

The boy, Hargrave said, "was in his neighborhood and was approached, then chased by a male suspect described as 5-feet-10-inches to 6 feet, skinny and wearing dark colored clothing."

The man was in a black or dark four-door car, possibly a Honda Prelude, Hargrave said. Three other people were also in the car, but there was no description of them, Hargrave said.

The release stated that the child said the suspect spoke English well.

No other information about the man was immediately available Thursday morning.

The neighborhood was recently annexed into the city of Keene, where the police department there was going to take over the investigation. Any one with information about the case can call officers at 817-641-7831.

In Burleson, a 9-year-old girl was walking her puppy Saturday in the 1000 block of Remington Circle at about 8:40 a.m. when a man approached, police said. She ran inside her apartment and locked the door. The man went to the back door and motioned for the girl, but when her mother appeared the man left, police said.

On Monday, a man pulled up and yelled at a 10-year-old Burleson boy to get into his vehicle, police said. The boy went in his apartment and locked the door, police said.

In both incidents, the man drove away in a small gray Dodge pickup, police said.

In a third but unrelated attempted abduction at about 4:40 p.m. Monday in Burleson, a man tried to grab a 14-year-old girl from behind as she walked home from school in the 500 block of Jayellen Avenue. The girl got away and the man drove away in a white two-door Acura.

Burleson police asked that anyone who notices suspicious activity in their city to call officers at 817-426-9903 or Crime Stoppers, 817-295-5323.
