You know when you run into Walgreen’s to pick up something and run into a pop star?
That happened Friday morning when Leon Bridges was spotted at the store on Henderson and Texas streets near downtown Fort Worth.
Bridges was back home in Cowtown to play an intimate gig at Shipping & Receiving Wednesday as well as a show tonight at WinStar Global Event Center in Thackerville, Okla. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to still do daily errands.
And, despite having the best-selling Coming Home album and his retro image, he didn’t arrive in a vintage T-bird convertible or Chevy Bel-Air. He showed up in a few-years-old Ford Fusion.
Good to know Bridges hasn’t gotten so big-time he can’t just hang out in his adopted home town. On Thursday, he was the first customer at the new location of Melt, Kari Crowe’s cool homemade ice cream shop that recently moved from Rosedale to Magnolia Ave.
But don’t expect to see Leon hanging around town too much longer. He plays the Essence Festival in New Orleans on July 3 and then wings Down Under for two shows in Melbourne, Australia on July 19-20. His next North Texas show is at the Music Hall at Fair Park on Sept. 18.
