LPD: Mother jailed after 3 children test positive for cocaine

A woman was arrested Monday after three young children tested positive for cocaine, according to the Laredo Police Department.

Officers responded at about 3:52 p.m. June 8 to a residence in the 2700 block of Main Street to assist Child Protective Services with the removal of three children under a court order.

When officers arrived, they found the children's mother, identified as 24-year-old Leslie Lozano, unresponsive, police said. Paramedics responded to the scene and provided medical treatment.

Hospital staff later reported that a 23-month-old child tested positive for cocaine. Two additional children, ages 3 and 5, also tested positive during medical evaluations, according to police.

Special Victims Unit investigators were notified and began an investigation. The residence was secured pending a search warrant, and Lozano was interviewed, police said.

Jail records show Lozano was booked into Webb County Jail on three counts of abandoning or endangering a child, all state jail felonies. She remained held as of Tuesday morning on bonds totaling $30,000.
