Last night, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats performed at Dallas’ South Side Ballroom, the latest stop on a tour that’s helping elevate the soulful rockers’ already significant profile.
Prior to Rateliff and his band’s arrival in Dallas, there was a little Twitter back-and-forth between Rateliff and Leon Bridges, who is, for the moment, home from touring Europe (he returns overseas May 10, in Norway).
That exchange led to this moment, captured by Tori Gorman on Instagram, of Rateliff and the Night Sweats backing Bridges on Sam Cooke’s Having a Party during the encore.

South Side Ballroom also posted footage of the collaboration on Facebook.
Earlier today, Bridges tweeted a photo of himself and Rateliff jamming backstage at the South Side Ballroom.
It was, like so much of Bridges’ career in the last 12 months, a vivid reminder of how far he has come — less than a year ago, Bridges was on the same stage as an opening act, for Lord Huron.
