Patty Griffin, Sara Watkins & Anais Mitchell at Granada Theater
For folk/Americana aficionados, this tour is the equivalent of a mobile Lollapalooza. Co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the bill of Patty Griffin, Sara Watkins and Anais Mitchell has, in this fraught and polarized election year, embarked upon the “Use Your Voice” tour. The women are performing together as a trio, according to press materials, and “this special ‘singers-in-the-round’ style show features all three artists ... sharing songs and accompanying each other for the entire evening.” Any one of these gifted singer-songwriters on their own would more than merit snapping up a ticket, but all three talented troubadours appearing together verges on mandatory attendance.
8 p.m. Friday. Granada Theater, Dallas. $39.
Burning Hotels at Lola’s Trailer Park
Slowly but surely, beloved local band Burning Hotels has been emerging from its self-imposed hibernation, with a smattering of shows in Fort Worth and Dallas over the last few months. This weekend, the Chance Morgan and Matt Mooty-led outfit will help officially christen the latest addition to Cowtown’s nightlife scene: Lola’s Trailer Park which is, conveniently, directly adjacent to Lola’s Saloon, long a hub for promising and established North Texas acts. Any Burning Hotels gig is electrifying, but with the band having been scarce, there’s a potential for even more energy to be released. With the Misteries.
7 p.m. Saturday. Lola’s Trailer Park, Fort Worth. Free.
