Josh Groban at Music Hall at Fair Park
Let’s try this again: Josh Groban will bring his tour supporting Stages, his Broadway-inspired album, to Dallas after having to postpone his October date on account of illness. (Tickets for that date will be honored for this date.) As he told me earlier this year, tackling standards and favorites of the Great White Way is not without its challenges: “I think it really comes down to educated risk-taking and educated twists. More than anything, I wanted to honor these songs. … They’ve stood the test of time for so many years because of how great they are already.” With Lena Hall.

A person can only take so much jingling of bells and sleigh riding and rocking around the Christmas tree before a strong urge to hear a different perspective on seasonal music takes hold. Enter New Orleans institution the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which will bring to bear its half-century of singular artistry on the Yuletide festivities, allowing audiences, over two nights at one of North Texas’ finest acoustic spaces, an opportunity to partake in a little Creole-flavored fun. The band will likely pull from all phases of its catalog, including That’s It!
7:30 p.m. Tuesday-Wednesday. Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas. $69-$89.
