Ed Sheeran at Toyota Stadium
Returning for his second North Texas gig in less than six months, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran is stepping up the size of his venue this time around, graduating from Verizon Theatre to Frisco’s mammoth Toyota Stadium. Sheeran is still touring behind his most recent album, X, and if May’s performance was any indication — “Armed with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a Loop Station pedal, [he] held sway with an ease more often glimpsed in veteran rock stars,” I wrote at the time — attendees can expect heart-on-sleeve pop and lots and lots of screaming. With Christina Perri and Jamie Lawson.
7 p.m. Saturday. Toyota Stadium, Frisco. $20-$69.50.
Of Montreal at Shipping & Receiving
Over the last two years, the industrial space-turned-watering hole Shipping & Receiving has blossomed into a sort of nerve center for Fort Worth’s creative class — part of the sprawling complex played host to the recording sessions for Leon Bridges’ major-label debut — and, increasingly, a stage capable of holding its own with competitors to the east. Landing avant-garde rock band Of Montreal is impressive, but hardly surprising — Shipping & Receiving is a force to be reckoned with. With Surface to Air Missive.
8 p.m. Sunday. Shipping & Receiving, Fort Worth. $16, $18 at the door.
