What is the DFW Car and Toy Museum?

Ron Sturgeon, a Dallas auto businessman, has a personal collection of millions of dollars worth of cars here in Fort Worth. What was formerly known as DFW Elite Toy Museum in Haltom City, has now been moved to Cowtown.

A homeless, 17-year-old Sturgeon turned his $2,000 inheritance into an auto repair business. The business grew so big that Ford Motor Company bought it in 1999. He then moved into salvaging old motor vehicles.

He has been an avid car collector for more than 30 years, and first showcased his cars at the DFW Elite Toy Museum. Now, Fort Worth hosts a museum of Sturgeon’s shiny collection.

The new, 150,000-square-foot museum showcases a variety of cars: rare exotics, European masterpieces, celebrity-owned vehicles, unique oddities and historic race cars. It will be the largest car museum in Texas, with more than 200 cars and more than 3,000 antique automotive toys.

Where is the DFW Car and Toy Museum?

You can find the DFW Car and Toy Museum located at 2550 McMillan Parkway in Fort Worth, just off of Interstate 35.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Admission is free, and the DFW Car and Toy Museum is also dog-friendly.

Sturgeon says the museum has 300 parking spaces, so there is plenty of room for people to attend.
