The mayor serves a three-year term and receives $150 a month. Council members serve three-year terms and are unpaid.

Background: Anderson has lived in the city for 40 years. He graduated from Brewer High School, studied criminal justice at Tarrant County Junior College (now TCC) and has served five years on the City Council.

About the candidate: Anderson said he was always very strict with the budget and would find use for materials in city departments when other people wanted to put them up for auction. He says he represents everyone in the city.

Name: Jerry R. Burns

Age: 57

Occupation: Stationary engineer

Background: Burns has lived in the city for more than 50 years, studied HVAC at Tarrant County Junior College and served on the City Council for six years, ending in 1995.

About the candidate: Burns is a member of the Baptist church, a hunter, a golfer, a fisherman and a longtime Little League coach. He also says he's proud of the city and its name.

Name: James O. Ouzts (incumbent)

Occupation: Industrial engineer

Background: Ouzts attended Tarrant County College and the University Texas at Arlington. He has an associate degree in business management. He taught world history at Western Hills High School, coached for several school districts and served as chairman of the White Settlement Economic Development Corp. He was Place 3 councilman for five years before he resigned for an unsuccessful run for constable in 1996. He was elected mayor in May 2002 and survived a recall vote last year.

About the candidate: Ouzts says he demonstrated leadership and fiscal responsibility during his time as mayor because city services increased, including a new animal shelter, while property taxes didn't.

Name: Robin Davis Allen

Background: Allen said she has lived in White Settlement since she was an infant. She's finishing course requirements to graduate from Mesa High School and plans to start college and get a teaching degree. This is her second run for City Council.

About the candidate: Allen said she is friendly and hardworking and has helped the city hold events for Halloween and Easter.

Name: Gunnar Rasmussen (incumbent)

Age: 56

Occupation: Records manager, BNSF Railway

Background: Rasmussen has served two terms on the City Council and on the city's crime board, Economic Development Corp. and Pride Commission. He has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

About the candidate: Rasmussen said he is familiar with the challenges facing the city and the progress that has been made on those challenges. He added that he is proud of what has been accomplished in the last six years and says he is confident that he can contribute to further address the needs of White Settlement.
