Background: Maisto has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Hofstra University in New York. She is a founding member of the city's Students and Parents Against Risks to Our Kids task force. She is involved with the Southlake Chamber of Commerce Leads Networking Group and is a Southlake Executive Forum member.

About the candidate: Her priorities are working with youth and on issues affecting the safety of children. She said she will stay on top of new development and ensure the unique, high-quality, low-density environment that residents enjoy continues to thrive. She said she will also encourage businesses that enhance Southlake and enrich the tax base. She also said she will work meet the needs of all residents and continue to care for and improve city parks.

Name: Pamela A. Muller

Age: 56

Occupation: Community volunteer

Background: She was co-owner of Fit-4-Her from 1998 to 2007. Muller was a councilwoman from 1988 to 1998 and served as deputy mayor pro tem. She was on the Southlake Planning and Zoning Commission from 1999 to 2002. She has also worked on other city boards for zoning and bonds. She is a member of Citizens on Patrol.

About the candidate: Muller said her priorities are to reduce the tax burden, maintain the low-density build-out goal and complete sidewalks and trails. She said she will work to expand the library and senior center, clear creeks and drainage areas of storm debris, and revisit the plans to build a community recreation center. She also wants restore morale in the Police Department. She said she would consider allowing gas drilling on a case-by-case basis in accordance with a proposed ordinance while looking at safety, property values, mineral owners’ rights and ultimately what is best for Southlake.

Name: Ralph Williams

Age: 65

Occupation: Accountant; co-owner and CFO of Myan Management Co., a Southlake property management company.

Background: He has a bachelor's in business administration from the University of California, Los Angeles. He is involved several organizations, including the Adams Lane Homeowners Association, the Carroll Education Foundation and the Southlake Executive Forum. He served on Southlake Planning and Zoning Commission from 2003 to 2004 and on the Building Board of Appeal from 2005 to 2006.

About the candidate: Williams said his goals are to improve the relationship between the City Council and Carroll school district. He said he supports joint use of recreational fields and gymnasiums. He said he will focus on well-planned commercial and residential development, and he plans to promote the construction of quality homes for senior citizens and empty nesters.

Civil service proposition

Voters will be asked whether to approve a measure adding the city's police officers and firefighters to the state's civil service system. The system sets standards for salary, hiring, discipline and other personnel matters.

Proposition language: "Adoption of the fire fighters' and police officers' civil service law."
