Background: Dixon earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Texas. He is a political newcomer, but he serves on the Flower Mound Planning and Zoning Commission, SmartGrowth Commission, Mixed Use Steering Committee and Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce.
About the candidate: Dixon said he wants to recruit top-quality businesses to the town and help it establish a clear vision. "It's the council's job to let everyone know, including staff, board and commissions, and the citizens: 'Here are our goals. This is what we're working toward,'" Dixon said. "I think they can do a better job of that."
Name: Al Filidoro (incumbent)
Age: 55
Occupation: Attorney; associate professor at the University of Phoenix.

Background: Filidoro earned a bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University, a master's degree from LeTourneau University and a law degree from Texas Wesleyan University. He was appointed to the council in October 2007. The only other time he ran for office was an unsuccessful bid for county auditor in Lake County, Ohio, when he was 29.
About the candidate: He supports the town's police and fire departments, including the addition next year of two police beats and two fire stations. He wants to increase the town's commercial and retail tax base, including creating a new central business district with a mix of residential and retail space and a hospital. He also wants to see the town through expansion of roads and utilities. "The roads are already overcrowded now," Filidoro said. "It's necessary."

Name: Virginia M. Jellison

Background: Jellison holds a bachelor's degree in political science and environmental studies from Texas Tech University. She has served on her homeowners association's architectural review committee.
About the candidate: "I will be a voice for the community at large," the fiscal conservative said in a statement. "I will be a true representative." Jellison said her priorities are keeping tabs on oil and gas issues, balancing preservation and development and accountable government.

Age: 44
Occupation: Homemaker

Background: Levenick attended the University of Wisconsin. She is on the town's Planning and Zoning Commission but has never run for political office before.
About the candidate: "I have a great pull to serve my community," Levenick said. She said she's interested in developing programs for senior citizens and promoting economic development in the town. Levenick also said she wants to enhance code enforcement in residential communities. "There are parts of town that are beginning to deteriorate and we need to be proactive," Levenick said. "Our residents are the backbone of this community."
