See fields of lavender in bloom at Becker Vineyards' 10th annual Lavender Fest next weekend. With cooking demonstrations, shopping, presentations, wine-tasting and tours, the festival is free from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 17 and noon to 6 p.m. May 18.

This well-respected winery east of Fredericksburg is also having a series of lavender-themed meals by local chefs: A vintner dinner at 6:30 p.m. May 16 is $85; the Lavender Festival Breakfast on May 17 is $35; luncheons at 12:30 p.m. May 17 and 18 are $55.
