Paris, Vegas-style

Paris — the one in Las Vegas, not France — will be staging its annual wine celebration beginning Nov. 18, which coincides with midnight festivities in the other Paris. The celebration features five days of special events, tastings and Beaujolais Nouveau pairings at fine hotel restaurants. As determined by law in France, Beaujolais Nouveau cannot be released until the third Thursday in November — six weeks after the grapes are harvested. Huge celebrations take place worldwide at one minute after midnight to taste the latest wine of the harvest, with an estimated 65 million bottles to be consumed in the following months. That’s quite a hangover.

The event runs through Nov. 22. A room package for the event includes accommodations at Paris Las Vegas, two tickets to Wine 101: Celebrate the Harvest, two commemorative wineglasses and a bottle of 2009 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau and VIP passes to Risqué. The Beaujolais Nouveau package is valid for travel Nov. 18-22. You can book online at www.parislasvegas.com/wine.
