ARLINGTON — An official with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission said Monday that it’s unlikely the Dallas Cowboys will face any penalties linked to the arrest of its new stadium’s general manager on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

The agency began an investigation after Jack Hill was arrested a few hours after the George Strait concert on June 6, the first event at the Cowboys Stadium. Arlington police said Hill, 53, failed a field sobriety test after being involved in a minor collision near the stadium.

The state has determined that while Hill works for the Cowboys’ development company, he does not work for the liquor sales permit holder, said Capt. Charlie Cloud of the beverage commission’s Dallas office. The permit holder is listed on the state’s Web site as Legends Hospitality Llc.

Legends Hospitality is a joint venture formed by the Cowboys and the New York Yankees to operate concessions at the teams’ new stadiums.

"There’s probably nothing going to come from this," Cloud said. "He had his accident several hours after the venue was closed."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, in Fort Worth on Monday for a speech at the Petroleum Club, told reporters that Hill would keep his job.

Jones said he doesn’t anticipate Cowboys Stadium losing its liquor license, adding that from what he’s heard, "we’re going to be all right."

Asked whether Hill had been overserved in his suite, Jones said, "No."

Last week, the beverage commission indicated that the Cowboys could face fines or a suspension of its liquor sales permit if state investigators determine that an employee became intoxicated at the stadium.

Cloud said the agency is still working to determine where Hill may have been drinking before his accident.

Hill, who was construction manager for the $1.15 billion stadium, is free on bail and has not been charged.

The stadium’s second event, a concert featuring the Jonas Brothers, is set for Saturday.
