Best of the rest

Chargers at Giants, 3:15 p.m., KTVT/11

The line: New York by 5

These two teams have one victory against a winning opponent between them, and the Giants have gone into a complete tailspin. New York has lost three straight after starting 5-0, giving up an average of 37.3 points per game during its slide. A major concern for the Giants is their pass defense. Earlier in the season against subpar competition they could overcome the absence of CB Aaron Ross and S Kenny Phillips, but they have been picked apart recently. San Diego is ranked fourth in passing offense, so they’ll probably be able to put up some points at the Meadowlands, but New York should be able to score enough to win at home.

Ravens at Bengals, noon, DIRECTV/704

The line: Baltimore by 3

The 4-3 Ravens will try to pull even with the Bengals in the AFC North, not to mention exact some revenge for a last-minute 17-14 loss to Cincinnati in Week 5. Baltimore’s defense was as sharp as it’s been all season in dismantling the previously unbeaten Broncos last week. In the last meeting between these teams, Cedric Benson rushed for 120 yards and became the first running back to go over 100 yards against the Ravens in 40 games. The Bengals should be fresh since they’re coming off the bye, and they have won five of six, including a 45-10 rout of the Bears in Week 7.

Cardinals at Bears, noon, KDFW/4

The line: Chicago by 3

The last time the Bears played the Cardinals, the aftermath included then-Arizona coach Denny Green’s (in)famous tirade about the Bears being "who we thought they were." It’s a new day, though, with both teams sitting at 4-3. The Bears probably need this win more than the Cardinals do, considering Chicago is likely to be in the wild-card playoff hunt down the line while the Cardinals have a good chance to win their division. Arizona is unbeaten on the road this season and Chicago is perfect at home.

Dolphins at Patriots, noon, DIRECTV/707

The line: New England by 10 1/2

When you talk about the Dolphins you’ve got to talk about the wildcat offense, which they launched last season in New England and rode to a 25-point victory over the Patriots. While Miami runs the ball very well whether in the wildcat or not, they won’t catch the Patriots off guard, as they showed by whipping Miami by 20 points in their second meeting last season. The big problem for the Dolphins is that the Patriots’ offense is finally humming along, with Tom Brady throwing 11 TD passes in his past three games, and Miami will likely be without LB Channing Crowder and DT Jason Ferguson.

Worth a look

Redskins at Falcons, noon, DIRECTV/708

The line: Atlanta by 9

It’s no secret that Washington has all kinds of problems, but a major concern for the Falcons is that Matt Ryan has thrown eight interceptions in his last four games, and the Redskins have the second-ranked pass defense in the NFL. It might be time to let Michael Turner, who is coming off a good game, carry the offense against a run defense that is ranked 22nd.
