The Cowtown Marathon is planning a 70s-themed party and a one-mile social run to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the race, the organization announced Friday.
The festivities will begin on Feb. 20 with a fun one-mile run called “The Cowtown Bai Bai Crestline Mile,” which will begin at 6 p.m. This untimed event, sponsored by Bai Water, will commemorate Crestline Road, one of Fort Worth’s more familiar streets, part of which will be demolished shortly after the racing weekend concludes.
Keeping things in spirit, the one-mile run will be limited to exactly 1979 registrants to honor the year this all began (1979).
Then, on Feb. 23, The Cowtown Marathon will host a 40th Anniversary party, which will be held at The Round Up Inn at Will Rogers Memorial Center from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This 70s-themed reception will recognize past winners of the race, as well as show appreciation for volunteers and sponsors.
The Cowtown Marathon (half, full, and ultra) will all start on Feb. 25 at 7 a.m.
The 10K (7 a.m.), Adults 5K (8:30 a.m.) and Kids 5K (9:30 a.m.) are on Feb. 24.
