Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant’s self-imposed, contract-negotiation deadline is fast approaching.
Bryant has indicated that he will cut off all negotiations with the Cowboys until after the season if a deal doesn’t get done before Sunday’s season opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
Bryant put the deadline in place so he could focus on the season without distractions. Although he knows Bryant badly wants a new deal, owner Jerry Jones applauds Bryant’s stance and believes the receiver won’t let the contract situation impact his preparation and focus.
“There is no one more focused on the practice or the games than Dez Bryant,” Jones said Tuesday on his radio show on KRLD-FM. “He will be focused. He wants to get that business done. He feels ultimately at some point business will get done. He will be focused completed on his assignments for San Francisco this week. As we progress through the season you are not going to see in my mind a distraction.”
